As a child, he began climbing almost as quickly as he began walking, and has never looked back. Nicknamed The Alien, he embodies a blend of magnetism, a strict sporting ethic, and a deep curiosity for climbing areas around the world.

An eclectic climber, he has excelled on the world's toughest single-pitch routes, the most difficult multi-pitch routes in existence, bouldering, and competition climbs. He is the first climber to reach grade 9c with his route Silence, and also the first to win a World Championship and a World Cup in both bouldering and difficulty.
